James Honeycutt, LSU distinguished professor, received the Outstanding Scholar in Communication Theory award from Southern States Communication Association for his contributions to the knowledge and understanding of communication theory. Honeycutt has authored, co-authored and edited over 100 publications in the area of communication theory, including six books and 26 book chapters.


Mary Broussard, of the Women’s & Children’s Hospital social services department, received the LSU School of Social Work Distinguished Alumni Award for the 1970s recognizing her dedication to the field of social work and to the patients and families she serves.

Women’s & Children’s Hospital, a campus of The Regional Medical Center of Acadiana, received national accreditation for ultrasound services from the American College of Radiology.


Kathryn M. Knight, an attorney with Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann LLC in New Orleans, has been named a Fellow of the Louisiana Bar Foundation, which works to preserve, honor and improve the justice system.

The Jefferson Chamber has received 4-Star Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for its policies, organizational procedures and impact on the community.
