Kirk’s has the works. And soon the longtime Baton Rouge auto accessory store will have a new home.
Owner Kirk Napoli sold the 58,000-square-foot building at 9555 Airline Highway for $3 million in a deal that closed earlier this week, said Chris Pike of Mike Falgoust & Associates Commercial Real Estate. Pike represented Kirk’s, while Matt Organ of Organ Commercial Properties represented the buyers, Brewster Road Holdings Baton Rouge LLC.
Brewster Road Holdings is made up of Bob and Billie Comeaux, the owners of American Factory Direct Furniture Outlets. American Factory Direct’s Baton Rouge store at the Mall of Louisiana is heavily promoting a moving sale.
Napoli has a long-term lease on a 37,000-square-foot building at 11740 Airline Highway, south of Siegen Lane, Pike said. “Part of Kirk’s long-term strategy was to sell the real estate,” he said. “He’s wanted to move to south Baton Rouge for a while and he was waiting for the right opportunity.”
The move puts Kirk’s closer to its customer base, which is made up of the contractors on Airline Highway south. Plans are to move Kirk’s to the new location sometime in November.
Although the new location is smaller than the existing Kirk’s building, Pike said the business is only taking up about half of the space. “It will be an increase in size,” he said.
Kirk’s, which was founded in 1981 and sells tires, bed covers, hitches and vehicle toolboxes, also has a location in Gonzales.
