Baton Rouge General is expanding into Zachary and Slaughter, opening two new locations of its Louisiana Internal Medicine Associates clinics.
The move comes after the General opened its first clinic location in December at the hospital’s Bluebonnet Boulevard campus. The clinics focus on care for adults with complex and chronic conditions, and serve as rotation sites for medical students and residents.
The Slaughter clinic, a 2,000-square-foot location at 1169 Highway 19, will be the first in the area. The Zachary clinic is the second General location there, after it partnered with Lane Regional Medical Center in 2014 to provide cancer care at Lane’s campus. The 2,700-square-foot Zachary clinic will be located at 19850 Old Scenic Highway, the current site of the Zachary Internal Medicine clinic.
“Our partnership with Lane gave us the opportunity to provide cancer care closer to the homes of the people who live in the northern part of the parish,” said Edgardo Tenreiro, president and CEO of the General.
The General also has plans for a neighborhood hospital in Ascension Parish, and last week announced a Mid City Medicine clinic expansion.
