First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending Feb. 9 decreased to 2,829 from the previous week’s total of 3,126.
For the comparable week a year earlier, there were 3,143 initial claims, the state labor department said in figures released Friday.
The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, decreased to 3,177 from the previous week’s total of 3,591.
Continued unemployment claims for the week ending Feb. 9 decreased to 29,781 compared to 31,123 the previous week. The four-week moving average for such claims decreased to 31,309 from the previous week’s average of 31,980.
