NEW ORLEANS — Louisiana’s tax free shopping program is opening two temporary offices in downtown New Orleans until the Outlet Collection at Riverwalk reopens in summer 2014.
The program rebates sales taxes to international visitors staying fewer than 90 days in the country.
The first office at the Ernest Morial Convention Center opened Tuesday, Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne said in a news release.
The second office at New Orleans’ cruise terminal will open Nov. 23.
The rebate office had been located at the Riverwalk shopping center, which is under renovation.
Established in 1989, the program has issued rebates to more than 600,000 international visitors who have spent more than $500 million in Louisiana.
