Plans are in the works for a 60,000-square-foot office park on Jefferson Highway adjoining Towne Center at Cedar Lodge.

Brian Dantin and Ross Bruce bought a 5-acre tract from IberiaBank for $1.28 million in a deal that was filed Monday with the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court’s office. They submitted documents Tuesday for The Offices at Towne Square with the city-parish Planning Commission.

“This is going to be an office park with modern flair,” Dantin said. Plans are to have eight buildings on the property and an outparcel for companies who want frontage along Jefferson for a headquarters building.

The Offices at Towne Square will target medical and professional businesses that need office space. “There’s very little office space in town where you can build to suit,” Dantin said. “This is a fantastic location. You can walk to Towne Center and have lunch.”

An undisclosed tenant has already purchased a building in the development, Dantin said.

Several developments have been considered for the site over the years, including office space and a church for Bethany Prayer Center. Those plans fell through over traffic concerns and how the properties would connect to adjoining properties.

If all goes well, construction will start after the first of the year. The first building would be ready by the summer, Dantin said.
