A 9.9-acre site on Airline Highway near the Barringer Foreman Industrial Park has been sold for $2.65 million to a subsidiary of the Newtron Group, an industrial contractor.

Newtron Development LLC of Baton Rouge bought the property at 13820 Airline in a deal that was filed Monday with the East Baton Rouge clerk of court’s office. The seller was DCP Land Airline of Baton Rouge.

David Funes, director of marketing for the Newtron Group, said the company has no immediate plans for the property. “It’s an investment for the future,” he said. The property fronts Airline and has access from the highway and Castille Road.

The land is near a fast-growing section of Airline, close to the Long Farm Village traditional neighborhood development and just past Woman’s Hospital. “There’s a lot of activity going on in that area,” Funes said.

The Newtron Group is one of the country’s largest industrial electric and instrumentation providers.
