Shell NA LNG LLC has agreed to buy up to 1.1 million tons of liquefied natural gas a year from Venture Global LNG Inc.’s planned Cameron Parish export facility.

The deal with Venture subsidiary Venture Global Calcasieu Pass LLC is for 20 years, beginning from the date the Cameron Parish facility begins operations. The final investment decision on the export facility is expected later this year, with operations to begin in 2019.

When completed, the Calcasieu Pass project will have an export capacity of 11 million tons per year.

The company also plans to build Venture Global Plaquemines LNG facility in Plaquemines Parish, 20 miles south of the Port of New Orleans. When completed, the facility will have an export capacity of 22 million tons per year. The project, if it goes forward, will begin operating in 2020.
