Louisiana Health Cooperative Inc. is giving people who signed up for coverage through the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace until Jan. 31 to pay their first month’s premium.

The non-profit health insurance company had given people who bought coverage by Dec. 24 through HealthCare.gov until Jan. 10 to pay the premium and still have coverage as of Jan. 1. But the company announced Friday that as long as members pay their premium by the last day of January, the company will retroactively cover their care.

Louisiana Health Cooperative said it is the only health insurer in Louisiana to extend the payment deadline until Jan. 31.

Vantage Health Plan had previously announced that eligible HealthCare.gov enrollees had until Jan. 15 to pay their January premium.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana said it had extended the deadline until Jan. 10. Payment’s after that cover the February premium.
