Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar has signed an area development agreement to open 10 locations in metro Houston over the next several years, the biggest franchise commitment the chain has secured so far.

Brandon Hargrave, a Lafayette-based franchise operator, signed the deal to open the Houston locations. Restaurant sites from Katy to The Woodlands will be scouted beginning next week. The goal is to have the first Walk-On’s open by late this year or early 2017.

Hargrave has franchise and ownership interests in a number of businesses, including CC’s Coffee House, Planet Fitness, City Bar and Rickey Meche’s Donut King. He’s set to open a Walk-On’s in the River Chase development in Covington later this year. In a statement, Hargrave said he told Walk-On’s co-founder Brandon Landry several years ago that he wanted to franchise the restaurant brand.

Scott Taylor, Walk-On’s president, said there was a lot of interest about bringing the franchise to Houston because of the large LSU fan base in the city. “We really held out for what we thought would be the best scenario, and in Brandon, we have the perfect partner to go into Houston,” he said.

Walk-On’s has seven locations in Louisiana and will open a restaurant in Juban Crossing in Denham Springs on Monday. Six of the restaurants are company-owned. Restaurants also are under construction in Zachary; Alexandria; Jackson, Mississippi; and Lubbock and Tyler, Texas.
