Heather Hughes has been named executive director of the marine practice at Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services Inc., handling marketing in the state and supporting sales and client management for the marine practice nationally for the firm.

Hughes was business development and administrative services director.

Kelly Hurtado has been named executive director of the Our Lady of the Lake Foundation. Hurtado was with Louisiana Business Inc. in positions that included associate publisher of 225 Magazine, executive vice president and publisher of inRegister Magazine.

Berry Burnside has been named by AT&T as regional director of external affairs for the Baton Rouge region, handling legislative and community affairs and collaborating with community leaders, legislators and business leaders on new technology and infrastructure investments.

Burnside was Louisiana government relations director for the American Heart Association.

Lee Melancon III has been named campus and academic director at the University of Phoenix Baton Rouge campus, responsible for enrollment, academic affairs, operations and community outreach for the campus and New Orleans Learning Center.

Melancon was a corporate education liaison and has served as campus college chair for the University of Phoenix School of Business and associate director of academic affairs for the state of Louisiana.

Sister Barbara Arceneaux has been named provincial of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady North American Province overseeing its efforts in the community and in the organizations of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System.

She will receive guidance from the Provincial Council: Sisters Helen Cahill, Margarida Vasques and Martha Ann Abshire.

Markham McKnight, president of BancorpSouth Insurance Services Inc., has been named chairman of the board of the Worldwide Broker Network, a worldwide network of independent property and casualty brokers and employee benefits consultants.


Shari Guidry has been named vice president of business development at FACET, a national outplacement and career management consulting firm.

She was with Randstad Human Resources

Dimitrios “Dimitri” Chelmis has been named general manager of the Drago’s Seafood Restaurant location at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.

He was in management with Zea Rotisserie & Grill.

Sonny D. Brandtner and Lynnette Richmann have been named directors to co-lead LaPorte CPAs & Business Advisors’ expansion of its risk advisory services practice area.

Brandtner’s primary industry focus is on energy, and Richmann’s is on health care and information technology.

Richmann was vice president of finance/enterprise risk management with BMC Software in Houston. Brandtner was a partner at Deloitte &Touche LLP.

Gerard “Gerry” Barousse has been appointed to the board of directors of Fidelity Homestead Savings Bank.

Barousse is president and principal of Monarch Real Estate Advisors, a real estate investment, development, management and financial services firm, and serves as president of RCB Developers, a real estate development firm specializing in historic properties.

Loews New Orleans Hotel has named Kelli Bruno as catering manager and Emily Perone as sales manager.

Bruno was at the Windsor Court Hotel. Perone was at Marriott International.


C. Wendell Manning of Monroe, a judge in the 4th Judicial District Court for the parishes of Morehouse and Ouachita, has been elected president of the Louisiana Bar Foundation.
