Stone Energy Corp. on Monday reported second-quarter net income of $39.0 million, or 78 cents per share, compared to net income of $30.5 million, or 62 cents per share, a year ago.

Oil and gas revenue rose to $243.5 million in the second quarter from $220.2 million for the second quarter of 2012.

Chairman, President and CEO David Welch said the company continued to benefit from its transition from conventional shelf Gulf of Mexico assets to the higher potential Marcellus shale and deep-water Gulf of Mexico properties.
