A 3.5-acre industrial site on Airline Highway near Pecue Lane has been sold for $1.075 million to a Texas heavy equipment sales and leasing company.
Vermeer Texas-Louisiana bought the site at 12131 Airline Highway in a deal that was filed with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s office Thursday. The seller was Waguespack Oil Co. Inc. of Thibodaux. Mathew Laborde of Beau Box Commercial Real Estate represented both the buyer and the seller in the deal.
Vermeer Texas-Louisiana officials said they plan to relocate the company’s Denham Springs operations to the Airline Highway site. Construction will begin late summer-early fall on a building that is double the size of the current local operations. About 10 people will work in the building when it opens in early 2016.
Vermeer Texas-Louisiana has 12 locations in the two states. The company carries equipment for use in the underground construction, landscape, tree care, wood waste processing and organic recycling industries.
