Rotolo’s opens new locations
Baton Rouge-based Rotolo’s Pizzeria has opened locations in Walker, New Roads and Pearl River.
The Italian restaurant franchise now has 20 locations, with plans for two more scheduled to open before the end of the year. Rotolo’s Pizzeria was founded in 1996 and began franchising in 2009.
Baton Rouge CPA firm changes names
LaPorte Sehrt Romig Hand CPA’s, which has an office in Baton Rouge, has changed its name to LaPorte CPA’s and Business Advisors.
The announcement was made by William “Ted” Mason, chief executive officer and president of the firm.
LaPorte was established in 1946 as a two-person independent accounting firm in Metairie. The firm has a staff of more than 160, with offices in New Orleans, Houston, Baton Rouge and Covington.
SU to sponsor tax seminar in October
Southern University’s Louisiana Small Business Development Center will sponsor a tax seminar titled “2011 Updates for Tax Preparers and CPA’s” 9 a.m.-noon Oct. 27 at the Louisiana Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross at 4655 Sherwood Common Blvd.
Representatives from the IRS, the Louisiana Department of Revenue and the Social Security Administration will address recent updates affecting how tax preparers and practitioners do business. Topics include wage reporting, electronic services, new adjusted 94X forms, changes for the 2011 tax year and due diligence.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $10 per person and can be paid at the door.

‘Growing Green’ conferences set
The Louisiana Workforce Commission is sponsoring a series of half-day regional “Growing Green” conferences around the state this month, focusing on the state’s green economy.
Conferences in the local area are:
•Baton Rouge: Sept. 16, Crowne Plaza, 4728 Constitution Ave.
•Lafayette/Lake Charles: Sept. 21, Holiday Inn Lafayette, 2032 NE Evangeline Thruway in Lafayette.
•New Orleans/Houma: Sept. 27, Westin New Orleans Canal Place, 100 Rue Iberville, in New Orleans.
Each event will be held 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. There is no charge.
The conferences will highlight findings from a comprehensive study of Louisiana’s green economy funded through a $2.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. Attendees will learn how to find green training programs and job opportunities and hear from employers engaged in green business activities.

Veterans job fair scheduled
The Baton Rouge Business and Career Solutions Center is holding a veterans and general public job fair on 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at 4728 Constitution Ave.
The first two hours are reserved for military veterans and last two are open to everyone.
