Mobile railcar repair and cleaning company Freedom Railcar Solutions LLC plans to set up shop at USA Rail Terminals LLC’s 200-acre Port Allen facility.
Freedom’s mobile units will serve customers within a 250?mile radius of USA Rail’s terminal in Port Allen, where USA has transloading, staging and railcar storage operations.
Freedom expects to begin mobile cleaning operations by June and repair services by August.
“The ability to offer full-service railcar maintenance is vital to the growth of our Port Allen Rail Terminal” and will help “ensure safe and efficient railcar movement in the region,” said Steve Roth, USA Rail’s executive vice president.
The facility, which is served by Union Pacific Railroad. can hold up to 450 railcars and has enough acreage to expand to 1,200 railcars.
Formed in 2014 by rail industry veterans, Mustang, Oklahoma-based Freedom focused its initial efforts on the crude-by-rail market but has grown to serve railcar owners, shippers, operators and lessees transporting various commodities across the Northwest and Southwest.
Freedom’s Louisiana location expands its repair and cleaning services to customers along the Gulf Coast, said Don Walsh, Freedom’s vice president of business development.
USA Rail is based in Center, Texas, and was formed in 2013 by Roth and its president, James C. Donnan.
