Residents of mixed-use developments in Baton Rouge and New Orleans can or will soon be able to take advantage of a bike-sharing program through Zagster.

The High Grove in Baton Rouge -- 192 apartments and more than 25,000 square feet of retail space -- has four bikes available. Residents can borrow the cruiser-style bikes for up to 24 hours.

The Paramount -- 209 apartments and 22,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space -- will have six bikes available for residents.

Both developments are being developed by The Domain Companies.

Residents can join the bike-sharing program by downloading the Zagster Mobile App, available for iPhone and Android, or online at Zagster sites customized for each property. To use the Mobile App, riders simply enter the unique ID number of the bike they wish to use and an access code for the lock box is provided. Riders can use the code throughout the duration of their rental to lock and unlock the bike anywhere along their trip. Once the bike is returned to a Zagster location, the touch of a button ends the rental and releases the bike for the next rider.
