Volunteers stuffed backpacks with workbooks and other materials bound for 18,000 kids who are expected to participate statewide May 2 in the fifth annual Lemonade Day.

The free backpacks contain detailed workbooks that offer marketing tips and advice to help them get started.

After covering their expenses and paying back their investors, the children ‘lemonaders’ are encouraged to donate to charities and open a youth savings account.

The backpacks were stuffed at LSU’s Business Education Complex in Baton Rouge. More will will be stuffed soon in New Orleans at the Saints’ locker room.
