Shippers will soon have new direct weekly options to Europe from the Port of New Orleans.
CMA CGM, the world’s third-largest container carrier, is adding the port to its Victory Bridge Service. FRance-based CMA CGM will launch the service Feb. 2 with the arrival of the CMA CGM Jamaica at the Port’s Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal.
“Shippers will now have greater options, which will further strengthen our connections to not only Europe, but also the Mediterranean, Africa, India Sub-Continent, Middle East and Red Sea,” said Port President and CEO Gary LaGrange.
CMA CGM has called on the Port of New Orleans since 2009 and operates its weekly Gulf Bridge Express to the Caribbean and South and Central American ports from New Orleans. CMA CGM is based in Marseilles, France, with its United States head office in Norfolk, Virginia.
The new weekly service will call on New Orleans, Antwerp, Belgium; Rotterdam, Netherlands; Bremerhaven, Germany; and Veracruz and Altamira, Mexico.
Stevedore Ports America will work the new service’s cargo at the Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal.
