The LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business announced the 2016 inductees into its Hall of Distinction: Deke Carbo, Fernando Guerrero, James Harp Jr. and Steven Walker.

Carbo is president, chief executive officer and owner of Metis Financial LLC, an investment and financial consulting firm. The Baton Rouge native earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1980.

Guerrero is managing partner and chief investment officer for Varadero Capital LP in New York, an investment advisory firm managing eight accounts totaling more than $1 billion in assets. The Cuban immigrant earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance from LSU and is a graduate of the program for management development at the Harvard Business School.

Harp is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Hornbeck Offshore, a marine transportation and oilfield service company in Covington. The Baton Rouge native earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1982.

Walker retired from JPMorgan Chase in 2015 as a senior executive in its middle market banking and specialized industries division. Walker earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance from LSU. He attended on an ROTC scholarship and served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force for 2½ years.

An induction banquet will be held March 4 at LSU’s Business Education Complex.

The Ascension Chamber of Commerce honored Shawn Nolan as its 2015 Ambassador of the Year; Jacob Waguespack as Individual of the Year; Guaranty Media as New Business of the Year; Gulf South Technology Solutions as Small Business of the Year; and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office as Large Business of the Year. Mike Bonfanti of Bonfanti Investments was recognized for outstanding service as the top producer in the chamber’s 2015 Total Resource Campaign.

The cleft and craniofacial team at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital has earned ACPA designation from the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association.

The designation recognizes high standards of care. The team is a network of physicians and health care professionals coordinated through a partnership among the LSU Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the LSU Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital.
