Anthony’s Italian Deli plans to close its Florida Boulevard location on Saturday and open a new Government Street restaurant in mid-January.

In a Facebook post, the owners of the longstanding deli thanked customers for their support for the past 36 years.

The Saia family opened the deli at 10248 Florida Blvd. in 1978. Anthony’s became known for its muffalettas and homemade spaghetti as well as selling an array of imported meats and cheeses. The new location on Government, near the Jefferson Highway intersection, will be larger, said Marie Saia, who owns the restaurant.

“It will be the same as the deli here, just a little bigger,” she said.

Saia said the plan is to start moving equipment to the Government Street location after Anthony’s closes on Saturday.
