The Louisiana Health Care Quality Forum has named to its board of directors Dr. Michael Fleming, a principal in Fleming Advisors who practiced family medicine for 30 years in north Louisiana and served as chief medical officer for Amedisys; Ruth Kennedy, health policy director for Southern Strategy Group; and Cheryl Tolbert, chief executive officer of Louisiana Business Group on Health.

Michelle Petersen, state manager for Security Title Guarantee Corp., of Baltimore, has been elected board president for The Life of a Single Mom. She was vice president and chair of the fundraising committee.

Other officers on the executive committee are Vice President Lisa Oliver, owner of GW Oliver; Treasurer Jolene Hardy, retired in accounting at Shell Oil; Secretary Jennifer Hardin, of Rodan + Fields Executive Consultant and retired from Woman’s Hospital. Other board members are Kellie Duhon, Michelle Lanoix, Ramona Tauzin, Karen Thomas, Kelli Jones and Suzanne Rouvalis.


Brad Feichter has been named event manager at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

Feichter was a senior banquet manager for the convention center’s food and beverage contractor, Centerplate, and previously was banquet manager for the National WWII Museum. Feichter graduated in 2010 with a bachelor's degree, majoring in hotel management, from Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Angela Amedee has been named associate dean of LSU Health New Orleans School of Graduate Studies.

She will be responsible for coordinating nine academic programs in the school, as well as directing recruitment, retention and curriculum development for the MD/Ph.D., interdisciplinary and MS-Biomedical Sciences programs. Amedee is a professor of microbiology, immunology and parasitology at LSU Health. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Nicholls State University and Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in microbiology from LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine. She conducted her postdoctoral training at the Tulane National Primate Research Center.

Wholesale insurance broker and underwriting managing firm Burns & Wilcox has promoted Kip Ulmer to associate managing director and Cain Webber to underwriting manager, commercial insurance, in New Orleans.

Ulmer was underwriting manager. Webber was an underwriter in commercial insurance.

Burns & Wilcox, a member of H.W. Kaufman Group, specializes in commercial and professional liability, property, marine and personal insurance.

Medicare Advantage company Peoples Health in Metairie has promoted Nick Karl to chief marketing officer and Dr. J. Brent Wallis to vice president of clinical integration.

Karl was vice president of marketing and communications and has more than 16 years of marketing and community relations experience. He joined the company in 2011 as sales director and began his career with the New Orleans Saints. Karl earned a bachelor's degree in sports administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Wallis leads the newly created clinical integration department, spearheading efforts to support the company’s of providers and directing strategies that promote key initiatives and goals. A physician executive, he has more than 15 years of experience in the medical field. Before joining Peoples Health as a market medical director, he served as market medical director and as a practicing physician for JenCare Neighborhood Medical Centers.
