Employees have started stocking the shelves of the new Wal-Mart Supercenter at Burbank Drive and Bluebonnet Boulevard in anticipation of a projected late June opening.

About 300 people will work at the store at 10550 Burbank. Wal-Mart first discussed building the location in late 2008. But construction was put on hold for four years due to the national recession.

The nearly 150,000-square-foot store will be the eighth Wal-Mart Supercenter in East Baton Rouge Parish.
