Office Depot is shutting its store at 7979 Florida Blvd. on May 20.

The office supply retailer is closing the store as part of an ongoing effort to trim annual costs. It announced in August 2016 it would close 300 Office Depot and OfficeMax stores by 2018. There were more than 1,500 stores in North America at the time of the announcement.

Office Depot officials would not disclose how many employees would be affected by the store closure. The company said customers could visit nearby stores at Cortana Mall and at 3116 College Drive.

Office Depot posted $529 million in net income during 2016, compared with $8 million in net income for 2015.
