First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending July 26 decreased to 2,312 from the previous week’s total of 2,543.
There were 2,627 claims for the comparable week a year earlier, the state labor department said Friday.
The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, decreased to 2,535 from the previous week’s total of 2,601.
Continued unemployment claims for the week ending July 26 increased to 23,406 compared to 23,386 the previous week.
The four-week moving average for such claims increased to 23,014 from the previous week’s average of 22,381.
