Jennings-based Safe Haven International has completed its first Defensive Fighting Position Unit, which will stop .50-caliber armor-piercing bullets.
Safe Haven makes blast-, ballistic- and forced-entry resistant buildings. Its customers include petrochemical and oil companies, embassies and consulates.
The Defensive Fighting Position Unit was designed with help from the U.S. military. The units are equipped with gun ports and ballistic-resistant windows on all sides. The units have the maximum rating on the ballistics protection scale, capable of stopping a .50 caliber bullet fired from 15 feet away.
The units are designed to integrate with other buildings and mobile units or as part of an integrated defense system.
