First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending Jan. 23 decreased to 2,658 from the previous week’s total of 3,485.
The state labor department said there were 2,531claims for the comparable week a year earlier. The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, increased to 3,201 from the previous week’s total of 3,136.
Continued unemployment claims for the week ending Jan. 23 decreased to 22,643 compared to 23,891 the previous week. The four-week moving average decreased to 23,631 from the previous week’s average of 23,641.
