Sportsman’s Plaza, a shopping center near Cabela’s in Gonzales, has been sold for $1.975 million.

Ascension Capital LLC, a Baton Rouge investment group, bought the 10,800-square-foot shopping center in a deal that closed Wednesday, said Steve Legendre of Sperry Van Ness. Legendre represented the seller, CSD Development, a group of Baton Rouge investors.

Ascension Capital is managed by Hung “Jerry” Ngo of Baton Rouge, according to the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office. Brent Struthers, of Beau Box Commercial Real Estate, represented the buyers.

Sportsman’s Plaza, which opened in 2014, is located on West Cabela’s Parkway, near the outdoor store, Tanger Outlets and the Interstate 10/Louisiana 30 intersection. The center is fully occupied and tenants include Beef Jerky Outlet, Tang Buffet, Pot & Paddle Jambalaya Kitchen and Salon Trinity.

Legendre said Sportsman’s Plaza wasn’t on the market, but Ascension Capital made a good offer. “The intent was to hold onto the shopping center, but the timing was good and they offered a good price,” he said.

The plan is for Ascension Capital to hold onto the shopping center as an investment.
