Firehouse Subs should open late next month on Corporate Boulevard, the first of six planned for Baton Rouge.
The local franchisee for the Jacksonville, Fla., sub and salad chain said the target date is April 29 for opening in the Esplanade Shopping Center at 5140 Corporate. Five more should follow within three years.
“We are committed to doing at least six,” said Patrick Lee, who operates the Hammond location.
Lee said while there are no other specific locations yet, LSU, Coursey Boulevard, Perkins Road, Siegen Lane and the city’s other major corridors are all potential locations.
He said Denham Springs is also in the mix. His territory doesn’t include Baker, Zachary and Central to the north or Gonzales to the southeast.
Lee noted Firehouse corporate has not identified the area to the north as a territory yet, but he did not rule out potentially expanding in that direction in the future.
Firehouse joins Subway, Quizno’s, Jimmy John’s and other fast-casual chains in the local market, not to mention the countless local sandwich shops.
Lee said Firehouse is known for its portion sizes and its consistency in taste and preparation. The sandwiches can be ordered cold, but are meant to be eaten hot and toasted.
Lee also said Firehouse puts customer service first and works to give back to the communities in which it locates.
Firehouse Subs has 600 restaurants in 33 states and Puerto Rico.
