New Orleans-based First NBC Bank Holding Co. reported third-quarter earnings of $10.4 million, or 54 cents per share, compared to $8.1 million, or 57 cents per share, a year earlier.

Net interest income rose to $21.8 million from $19 million a year earlier, and loans jumped 22.6 percent to $2.2 billion.

The company said increases in commercial real estate and commercial loans, thanks to favorable economic conditions in the New Orleans area, were the primary drivers of loan growth.

First NBC beat Wall Street analysts’ expectations. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters forecast earnings of 50 cents per share.
