New Orleans-based Entergy Corp. posted fourth-quarter operational earnings of $135.3 million, or 75 cents per share, compared with $179.3 million, or $1 per share, a year ago.
For the year, the power company’s operational earnings were $1.05 billion, or $5.83 per share, compared to $957.1 million, or $5.36 per share, in 2013.
Both the quarter and the annual results fell short of Wall Street’s expectations. Stock analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research forecast a fourth-quarter profit of 82 cents per share and $5.94 per share for the year.
The company’s fourth-quarter earnings were lowered by higher spending on power generation and a write-off stemming from a pending Louisiana Public Service Commission review of the Waterford 3 steam generator replacement.
Entergy said it expects 2015 operational earnings in the range of $5.10 to $5.90 per share.
Entergy’s stock slipped 95 cents, or about 1 percent, to close at $86.52.
