The JOVO Group, a privately owned Chinese importer, has signed a long-term, multibillion-dollar agreement to buy liquefied natural gas from the planned SCT&E export terminal in Cameron Parish.

The deal is the first of its kind between a domestic LNG developer and a private Chinese LNG terminal owner, according to Houston-based SCT&E. JOVO, which owns an import terminal, may also invest in the SCT&E facility.

SCT&E’s proposed export plant will cost an estimated $6.9 billion to build and have the capacity to export 13.2 million tons of LNG per year.
