WBRZ Channel 2 has named Lee Polowczuk, a 23-year broadcast news veteran, as its director of news.

Polowczuk has served as assistant news director and investigative executive producer at WBRZ for the past three years.

Polowczuk takes over for Chuck Bark, who announced in March 2015 that he would be resigning at the end of the year after 11 years at WBRZ.

Polowczuk previously was news director at WBPF in West Palm Beach, Forida, WVUE in New Orleans and WHNS in Greenville, South Carolina. He also was a reporter in Monroe and Orlando, Florida.

“After an extensive nationwide search, the best person to take over the reins from Chuck was right here in the station,” said Rocky Daboval, WBRZ general manager. “Lee’s experience and knowledge of the Baton Rouge market make him perfect for the continued growth of News 2.”
