First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending March 12 decreased to 2,654 from the previous week’s total of 2,950.
The state labor department figures said there were 2,520 for the comparable week a year earlier.
The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, increased to 2,839 from the previous week’s total of 2,752.
Continued unemployment claims for the week ending March 12 decreased to 22,851 compared to 23,117 the previous week. The four-week moving average for such claims increased to 22,943 from the previous week’s average of 22,925.
