One of the world’s most-cited environmental economists will discuss coastal habitat restoration and storm protection April 13-14 at LSU’s Energy, Coast & Environment building.
Edward B. Barbier, the John S. Bugas Professor of Economics at the University of Wyoming will deliver two lectures. “Living on the Edge: Protecting & Restoring Coastal Habitats” is set for 7 p.m. April 13. “Storm Protection Service of Estuarine & Coastal Ecosystems” will be at 3:30 p.m.
Barbier helped develop Louisiana’s 2012 Coastal Master Plan for a Sustainable Coast. He hopes to offer a possible solution to the retreating coastline and explain the economic investment necessary to restore and protect our coast.
Barbier’s talks are part of the 13th annual Patrick Lecture Series.
