Construction is set to start next week on a 9,000-square-foot shopping center on Sherwood Forest Boulevard, which is being built on the site of the former McDonald’s Express.
4343 Sherwood Forest, named for the property’s address, has two tenants so far. Shrimp Basket plans to take up a 4,000-square-foot space on the south end of the property, said Justin Langlois, an agent with SVN|Graham, Langlois & Legendre who is handling leasing for the property along with Kathryn Juneau.
The Shrimp Basket will be comparable in size to the location that opened in August at 7242 Perkins Road, Langlois said. The restaurant, which sells grilled, steamed and fried seafood, along with po-boys, pasta and hamburgers is set to go before the city-parish Planning Commission on March 19 to get a rezoning to allow for alcohol sales.
The northern end of the center will be leased to Parker’s Pharmacy. This will be the second location of the locally owned pharmacy, joining a location at 9600 Florida Blvd. Parker’s Pharmacy was founded last year by brothers Kyle and Orlando Palmer.
There is 2,600 square feet of space left in the center, which could be divided between two tenants.
Plans are to open 4343 Sherwood Forest by the summer, Langlois said.
