First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending June 18 decreased to 2,822 from the previous week’s total of 3,445.

The state labor department said there were 2,731 a year earlier.

The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, decreased to 3,249 from the previous week’s total of 3,335.

Continued unemployment claims for the week ending June 18 increased to 26,898 compared with 26,234 in the previous week. The four-week moving average increased to 25,023 from the previous week’s average of 24,147.
