Galatoire’s Bistro, which closed its Perkins Road location Monday, said it will open later this year at a more central location in the city.

Galatoire’s Bistro expects to announce its new address sometime later this summer, restaurant officials said in a news release. The new location will allow the restaurant to be closer to business customers, in addition to its local clientele, it said.

“Quite simply, we want Galatoire’s Bistro to be closer to the growing, vibrant neighborhoods of Baton Rouge, especially downtown, Southdowns, the Capitol area and the Garden District,” said Todd Trosclair, chairman of the board of Galatoire’s. “Our new location will continue to offer classic French Louisiana cuisine with the freshest Gulf seafood and excellent service.”

The restaurant opened the Baton Rouge location in November 2005. Hurricane Katrina had devastated New Orleans and forced the company to close the original location on Bourbon Street for four months.
