Two Sonic fast-food restaurants that opened within the past six months have been sold for $3.5 million.

The Sonics at 505 East Boyd Drive in Baton Rouge and 14620 Greenwell Springs in Central were sold by the developer to businesses associated with Larry Tucker of Baton Rouge, according to documents filed with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s office. Tucker is the local Sonic franchise owner. The East Boyd restaurant went for nearly $2.1 million, while the Central location was sold for $1.4 million.

Kent Walker, who was manager of the businesses that sold the restaurants to Tucker, said he had an agreement to buy the land and develop the sites for Sonic restaurants. After the restaurants opened, Tucker exercised his option to buy both properties instead of leasing them for 20 years.
