Latte e Miele, a Jefferson Highway gelato café, is now closed.

Luca DiMartino, who opened the restaurant in March 2009 on Highland Road, decided to close the business after the death of his father, according to a post on Latte e Miele’s Facebook page.

“Along with my staff, I thank you all for your friendship and patronage over the last six years. Its been a hell of a run,” said the statement, attributed to DiMartino’s publicist.

Latte e Miele, which is Italian for “milk and honey” had recently expanded the menu at its Bocage location beyond gelato and sandwiches, offering fresh-made pasta dishes and roasted pork.
