More than 18,000 youth across Louisiana are expected to participate on Saturday in the fifth annual Lemonade Day.

Stands will be set-up throughout the state as part of a national program. It is designed to encourage entrepreneurship and character development among Louisiana’s youth by supporting them in establishing and operating their own lemonade businesses.

After covering their expenses and paying back their investors, children are encouraged to open a youth savings account and also donate a portion of their proceeds to a local charity.

More than 29 corporate sponsors have teamed up to sponsor the event.
