Cathy F. Gautreaux, executive director of the Louisiana Motor Transport Association, received the organization’s inaugural State Trucking Award.

The award recognizes a state trucking executive who demonstrates leadership in partnership with the organization.

Gautreaux, a native of Donaldsonville and LSU graduate, has been on the association’s staff for 31 years and executive director for 28 years. She has been active on state and national boards and committees and serves as a liaison to regulatory agencies and represents the organization in legislative sessions.


Campus Federal received a Silver Award from the Marketing Association of Credit Unions for its BioDistrict Branch in the point of sale/branch media category.

The branch, at 2200 Tulane Ave., features a technology bar with interactive iPads and a queuing system for customers. Campus Federal partnered with international branding and strategic consulting agency Weber Marketing Group on its concept and branding design.

Hiroko Kusuda, director and professor of the immigration law section within Loyola College of Law’s Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic and Center for Social Justice, has been awarded the 2016 Elmer Fried Excellence in Teaching Award by the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

The center is a legal clinic that gives third-year law students the opportunity to put classroom knowledge to work in representing those in need under the supervision of experienced attorneys. Students are trained in litigation skills for the representation of noncitizens before the U.S. Department of Justice Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, federal and state courts.


Louisiana State Bar Association 2016 Young Lawyers Division awards were presented to area winners: Alysson L. Mills, a partner in the New Orleans office of Fishman Haygood LLP, Outstanding Young Lawyer Award; Graham H. Ryan, a business litigation associate in the New Orleans office of Jones Walker LLP, the Bat P. Sullivan Jr. Chair’s Award; Kas L. Hargis, a law clerk for Judge John R. Walker of the 32nd Judicial District Court in Houma, and Carrie L. Jones, a partner in the Baton Rouge law firm of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP, both the Chair’s Special Appreciation of Service Award; Dwazendra J. Smith, an associate in the Opelousas law firm of Doran & Cawthorne PLLC, Pro Bono Award; the Lafayette Young Lawyers Association, Service to the Public Award for its Holiday Giving Program; and Baton Rouge Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section, Service to the Bar Award for its Angola road trip and continuing legal education program.

The Louisiana Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences presented awards to area recipients Layne Langley, West Feliciana Parish, in the categories of photography, school wellness, family health and wellness, Florence Hall Award and the Maxine Reeves Memorial Award; Elma Sue McCallum in Baton Rouge and Sandra May and Diane Sasser, both in the School of Nutrition and Food Sciences, all for educational publication; Diane Sasser and Melissa Cater in the Department of Agricultural and Extension Education and Evaluation in Baton Rouge, both for educational curriculum package; Diane Sasser, Carla Verbois, Courtney Pitts, Sandra May and Denise Holston-West, all in the School of Nutrition and Food Sciences, Elma Sue McCallum; Becky Gautreaux, Lafourche Parish; Mandy Armentor, Vermilion Parish; Emilia Clement, Orleans Parish; Robin Landry, Assumption Parish; Karen Walker, Jefferson Parish; and Valerie Vincent, St. Tammany Parish, all for marketing package; Valerie Vincent, human development/family relationships; Becky Gautreaux, the organization’s scholarship recipient; and Mandy Armentor, distinguished service award.        

The Louisiana Jump$tart Coalition has recognized 2016 Workplace Financial Education honorees from the area: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, Louisiana Farm Bureau, LSU’s Office of Facility Services and Starmount Life Insurance Co., all in Baton Rouge; and Lafayette General Medical Center.

The award recognizes companies that provide financial literacy as an added benefit to their employees.
