ShoppersChoice.com, which sells indoor and outdoor furniture, grills and kitchen appliances, plans to spend $1.8 million to expand the warehouse space at its facility on Airline Highway.

ShoppersChoice.com has applied for permits with the city-parish to add 60,000 square feet to its headquarters at 8151 Airline Highway. The plan is to move on the work “very quickly” and have the space open in early 2016, said Corey Tisdale, CEO of the fast-growing company. Once the new warehouse is added, ShoppersChoice.com will have more than 105,000 square feet of covered space at its headquarters.

“I never thought we would be this busy, but now that we are, we would do so much more if we had more space,” Tisdale said.

Since the start of the year, Tisdale said ShoppersChoice.com has hired 65 people. The company now has about 125 employees at its Airline Highway headquarters and its showroom at 10920 Coursey Blvd.

“As we grow, we’ve had less and less room for storage because we’ve had to set up cubicles in more and more spaces,” he said.

At the same time, Shoppers Choice.com has seen the number of shipments go up by 80 to 100 percent in the past year. Tisdale credits some of that growth to Lakeview Outdoor Designs, a line of patio furniture the company launched in spring 2014.

“That blew up into a multimillion-dollar business,” he said. “We have five to 15 shipping containers a week of furniture moving out of here.”

Because of the lack of storage space, Tisdale said the company is constantly shuffling shipping containers.

“We don’t have enough space to sort the stuff and unload trucks,” he said. “It’s getting crazy.”

By adding the additional space, Tisdale said Shoppers Choice.com will have enough room to store merchandise and allow employees to properly interact with one another.

ShoppersChoice.com’s roots go back to 1998 when The Grill Store and More opened on Tiger Bend Road. In an effort to expand the business, its owners launched a website, BBQGuys.com.

By 2003, the company had moved entirely online, putting several niche websites under the ShoppersChoice.com umbrella. For the past three years, the company has made the Inc. magazine list of America’s 5,000 fastest-growing private businesses. In 2014, Shoppers Choice.com reported $63.7 million in sales, up from $52.6 million the year before.

“I can’t wait to get started on this expansion,” Tisdale said. “If I could, I would start on it today and not sleep until it got done.”
