Seven Baton Rouge startups are featured on as part of the magazine’s look at how the 2008 financial crisis changed the entrepreneurial landscape in cities across the United States.

The companies are Yellow Jacket LLC, a company that produces a smartphone case that doubles as a stun gun; HitLights, which produces LED strip lights, light bulbs and automotive lights; SJ Techs, which has created an “OnStar” system for mobile harbor cranes; Hybrid Racing, which makes and sells parts needed for swapping engines in Hondas and to improve performance; Vinformatix, which designs electronic medical records software, as well as custom software and mobile applications for other industries; Pixel Dash Studios, an online and mobile game developer; and LocalMed, a mobile app that helps customers find doctors and dentists and schedule appointments.

“Baton Rouge may be best known as the home of Louisiana State University and state government, but more entrepreneurs are starting to settle here, too, thanks in part to a wealth of resources at LSU and generous state tax credits for digital media and software firms,” the article says.
