The Greater Baton Rouge Society of Human Resources Management presented Rebecca Briley, human resources manager for E Federal Credit Union, with the organization’s 2012 HR Professional of the Year award and presented its 2012 Excellence in Diversity award to the LSU Office of Equity, Diversity and Community Outreach.
Lucina Lampila, associate professor in food science and seafood technology specialist for Louisiana Sea Grant and the LSU AgCenter, has been named a Fellow of the Institute of Food Technologies. Her research includes investigating new ways to store and process seafood, cooking procedures, determining nutritional information for Asian carp and evaluating the impact of viruses in oysters.
Gil Broussard, president of Gil Broussard Builders Inc. in Baton Rouge, has been elected a life director by the board of directors of the National Association of Home Builders.
He has been a member of NAHB for 18 years, served as a voting director for 10 years and attended at least two board meetings each year.
Tipmasters Inc. presented Lifetime Achievement Awards to Frank Dickinson III and Jim Dysart and awarded TipMaster of the Year to Ian Melancon, River Road Coffee.
The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana University has been awarded full accreditation by the Association of Small Business Development Centers. The accreditation review, which is mandated by Congress, is modeled after criteria established by the national Institute of Standards and Technology and ensures the investments made by federal and state governments, as well as the host universities, result in strong returns for small business and the overall economy.

Ryan Louis Comeaux, of Behringer Harvard in New Orleans, earned the Certified Property Manager designation and Tyson Walker, of Live Oak Realty in Mandeville, earned the Accredited Commercial Manager certification from the Institute of Real Estate Management, an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors. Certifications are based on experience, educational requirements and passing an examination.
The Association for Corporate Growth Louisiana named the winners of its third annual ACG Cup case-study competition, with MBA students from LSU, Loyola and Tulane competing.
The team from LSU, made up of Kendall Knobloch, Andrew Guice and Drew Baynham, took the ACG Cup and $2,500 cash; Loyola won second place, with Dwight Davison, Jessica Cremer and Emily Jones competing; and Tulane won third place, with Nicole Bravo, Shan He, John Abraham Francis, Nuttapol Kamsaeng and Michael Rosos competing.

The state Department of Environmental Quality presented annual Environmental Leadership Awards to several winners from the local area: St. Landry Parish Solid Waste Disposal District, special recognition in pollution prevention and in community environmental outreach, an award with Washington for a biogas-to-compressed natural gas vehicle fuel project and one for an education environmental awareness literacy program; Martin Ecosystems, of Baton Rouge, special recognition in pollution prevention and installing BioHaven Floating Islands at Elayn Hunt Correctional Facility; Rubicon LLC in Geismar for MDI plant caustic usage reduction; Stuller Inc. of Lafayette for e-waste recycling; Alon Refining Krotz Springs for its air emissions reduction program; The Green Project in New Orleans for “It’s Easy Being Green”; Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council in Baton Rouge for its 2012 electronic recycling events; Baton Rouge Magnet High School in Baton Rouge for “Bulldogs Recycle!”; Tulane University in New Orleans for its environmental program initiatives; and Baton Rouge Community College for its Geaux Green Sustainability Event.
The Louisiana Library Association presented Zachary McGar, of Jefferson Parish, with its 2013 Educational Foundation of the Trustee Section Fellowship, which provides a student with tuition for one or more courses in the LSU School of Library and Information Science; Melanie Sims, associate librarian at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center Library at LSU with the Anthony H. Benoit Mid-Career Award; and McKinley High School, in Baton Rouge, with the James O. Modisette Award for School Libraries.
