Local developer Raymond Heck has applied for a building permit for a $2 million, 100,000-square-foot warehouse that could become home to a national wholesale distributor.
The property is on the north side of Old Perkins Road, just east of Pecue Lane.
Heck said Friday he is in talks with HD Supply, a wholesale distributor out of Atlanta, but does not yet have an agreement. He said a deal could get done in the next few weeks and that the facility is designed with HD Supply in mind.
According to the permit application, the facility would include 6,670 square feet of office space and 93,328 square feet of warehouse space.
Officials with HD Supply, which provides maintenance, repair and operations products for a number of industries, could not be reached for comment Friday, so a construction timeline and economic and employment impact of the facility is still unclear.
According to the company website, HD Supply is one of the largest diversified wholesale distributors in North America, with 10 wholesale businesses and 680 locations across the U.S. and Canada. The company’s distribution businesses serve more than 400,000 professional customers, including contractors, government entities, maintenance professionals, home builders and industrial businesses.
HD Supply’s facilities maintenance division has 39 distribution centers, including one opened this month in Jacksonville, Fla., a fleet of more than 600 delivery vehicles and 22,000 items in stock.
