Lafayette-based PetroQuest Energy reported first-quarter earnings of $10 million, or 15 cents per share, compared to $2.6 million, or 4 cents per share, a year ago, and more than the company’s entire 2013 profit.

The company said increased oil production,up 93 percent, and oil and gas revenue boosted results. The company handily beat the expectations of Wall Street analysts. Stock analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of 10 cents pe share.
