LSU accounting sets two-day tax seminar

The LSU Department of Accounting is offering the second annual LSU Tax Seminar on Jan. 8 and Jan. 9 at the Business Education Complex in room 1510.

The seminar qualifies for 16 hours of CPE credit and 13.7 hours of CLE credit.

The Thursday Tax Update seminar provides accountants with the current federal tax developments affecting tax returns for the coming season. The seminar principally focuses on new and pending legislation, IRS interpretations and recent court decisions on tax laws.

The second day of the seminar will teach attendees how to navigate the Affordable Care Act, specifically focusing on the taxes or tax increases imposed by the law.

Listening Room reopening on North

Henry Turner Jr.’s Listening Room will reopen at 8 p.m. Jan. 1 at 2733 North St. in Baton Rouge, showcasing original music by local and regional performers.

The venue, which is an alcohol- and smoke-free environment, also will include weekly performances by Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor, specializing in Louisiana reggae, soul and funk.
