Baton Rouge-based Resource Environmental Solutions LLC has won a wetlands mitigation contract for Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass natural gas liquefaction facility in Cameron Parish.
The amount of the contract was not disclosed.
Federal law requires companies whose projects affect wetlands to offset the damage. Resource Environmental restores and preserves wetlands and coastlines, selling developers mitigation credits for their projects.
So far Cheniere Energy’s is the only facility that has won federal approval to export liquefied natural gas. The $5.6 billion project is expected to begin operating as early as 2015.
