Hotel-motel occupancy tax collections jumped 25.4 percent in 2012 to $4.3 million in East Baton Rouge Parish compared to the previous year, largely as a result of the United States Bowling Congress Open, according to Visit Baton Rouge, the parish’s tourism board.

In terms of total revenue, 2012 was the strongest year so far, the organization said in a news release.

The hotel-motel tax in East Baton Rouge Parish is 13 percent.

Hotel-motel occupancy taxes rose to $228,804 in December, a 2.43 percent increase over December 2011, according to Visit Baton Rouge.

The organization’s board met Thursday, authorizing its leadership to negotiate a sponsorship agreement between Visit Baton Rouge and the producers of the 2014 Bayou Country Superfest.
