A Kenner motorist killed another driver Sunday in a crash on Interstate 55 in Tangipahoa Parish, State Police said.

The victim and another motorist were stopped on an elevated stretch of the interstate near Ponchatoula about 4 a.m. after getting into a crash, State Police spokesman Sgt. Nick Manale said in a news release.

As they were discussing the crash, Scott Parfait, 43, smashed into one of the parked cars and killed the victim, State Police said. The victim has not been identified.

Investigators suspect Parfait had been using drugs. Toxicology tests are pending.

Parfait was booked into Tangipahoa Parish Jail on counts of vehicular homicide, careless operation and driving with a suspended license.
